His dedication to academic excellence continued as he pursued his Doctor of Sciences degree in the field of Thermodynamics, once again achieving Magna Cum Laude honors.

Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Moreno-Piraján engaged in a postdoctoral stay at the Institute of Carbon Science and Technology under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Juan Manuel Diez-Tascón in Oviedo, Spain. This international experience enriched his knowledge and expertise in his specialized areas.

Since his admission to the University of the Andes in July 1995, Dr. Moreno-Piraján has held various positions, showcasing his commitment to education and research.
