Prof. Dr. Mustafa El-Rawy's journey in academia began with a solid foundation in Civil Engineering, which he pursued at Minia University, Egypt. Graduating in May 2002 with a B.Sc. degree, he achieved a "very good with honor" distinction, showcasing his early dedication and academic prowess. His quest for advanced knowledge led him to Belgium, where he earned his M.Sc. in Water Resource Engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel in September 2008. His master's thesis focused on developing analytical and numerical solutions for groundwater-surface water interaction using a FEMME approach, highlighting his inclination towards solving complex hydrological problems.

El-Rawy's academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Water Resource Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in March 2013. His doctoral research, which involved calibrating hydraulic conductivities in groundwater flow models using the Double Constraint Method and the Kalman filter, earned him great distinction. This period of intense research and academic rigor laid the groundwork for his future contributions to water resources engineering.
