Dr. Hussein A. Leftah embarked on his academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Honors from the University of Basrah in 2002. He further pursued a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Basrah University in 2004. His passion for academic excellence and electrical engineering laid the foundation for his future contributions and accomplishments.

In 2013, Dr. Leftah achieved a significant milestone by obtaining a Ph.D. in Wireless Communications from Newcastle University in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. This marked the culmination of his extensive studies and the beginning of a prolific career in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.

Professional Endeavors

Dr. Leftah's expertise extends to various areas, including wireless, underwater, and optical communications, signal processing for communications, index modulation spread spectrum, subcarrier index modulation, and MIMO. His skills in team management and supervision further showcase his leadership capabilities.

Over the years, he has actively participated in technical program committees for prestigious international symposiums, such as the IEEE International Symposium on Advanced Electrical and Communication Technologies (ISAECT) in different locations, including Rome, Italy, Kenitra, Morocco, Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia, and Kasablanca, Morocco.

Dr. Leftah has also served on the scientific committee of the Second International Conference on Integrated Sciences and Technologies (IMDC-IST-2021) at the Southern Technical University in Basrah, Iraq. Additionally, he contributed to the 6th International Scientific Conference on Advanced Medical and Engineering Technologies (ISCAMET 2022) in Iraq and the 2024 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Automation Engineering (AIAE) in Doha, Qatar.

His research contributions cover a wide range of topics, including novel OFDM based on C-transform, index modulated spread spectrum OFDM, and deep learning-based code indexed modulation for autonomous underwater vehicles systems.

Throughout his academic and professional journey, Dr. Leftah has garnered numerous accolades and certificates of excellence. Notably, he secured the first rank as a B.Sc. graduate student out of 85 at the University of Basrah in 2002. He continued to receive recognition, such as the third-best paper and presentation prize at the Postgraduate conference PGC in 2011 and the best paper and presentation prize at the Annual Research Conference ARC in 2012, both at the University of Newcastle.

In 2012, he achieved the Introduction to Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate (ITLHE) and became an associate member of the British Higher Education Academy.
