He pursued his education at the Aviation Institute (Technical University) in Kazan, Russia. In 1967, Khalatov earned his MSc in Aeroengines, specializing in the aerothermodynamics of aeroengines. His dedication to the field led him to continue his studies at the same institute, where he embarked on a PhD program focused on the heat transfer and hydrodynamics in supersonic nozzles. By 1970, he had successfully completed his PhD, marking the beginning of a remarkable career in engineering thermophysics.
