Joyee Ghosh was born on 12 July 1979, in Kolkata, India. She obtained her Ph.D. in Physics as a CSIR Research Fellow at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her doctoral research involved the experimental work conducted in collaboration with CNRS Laboratoire Aimé Cotton in Orsay, France, under the supervision of Prof. Rupamanjari Ghosh and co-supervisor Prof. Fabien Bretenaker.

Dr. Ghosh embarked on a distinguished academic career, taking on various postdoctoral roles internationally. Notable positions include being a Marie Curie Fellow at ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona, Spain, an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken, Germany, and a JQI Postdoctoral Researcher at the Joint Quantum Institute, University of Maryland, USA.

She later joined the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), where she has been serving as an Assistant Professor since May 2013 and subsequently became an Associate Professor in July 2021. Her research interests span Quantum and Nonlinear Optics, Quantum Information Science, Quantum Communication, Laser Physics, Photonics, and Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics.
